Genetics of reproductive systems and population genetics. Genome analysis using PCR-derived molecular markers for DNA fingerprinting, for mapping Mendelian genes and QTLs, and for marker-assisted breeding (MAB). Transcriptome analysis by mRNA profiling and NGS technologies, bioinformatics and gene expression studies by Real-Time qPCR. Analysis of genetic diversity in crop and livestock species by means of SNP haplotyping and SSR genotyping, and genetic traceability of food products and derivatives using mtDNA and cpDNA barcoding.

Founder of the University Spin-off GfB, Genomics for Breeding®, and Holder of BreedOmics®: principal investigator of an advanced services laboratory of genomic analyses based on the use of molecular markers such as SSR, AFLP and SNP markers for breeding and protecting plant varieties (CVprint©), and for genetic traceability of food products and derivatives (AgriFoodID©). Specific programs of research and development (R&D), including molecular tools and diagnostic assays, are also implemented for seed companies and food industries.
